Surgeon Info:
Jerzy M. Macura M.D. (Brooklyn, NY)
My first impression of Dr. Macura was that he was feeling rushed and had someplace else he wanted to be. We really didn't talk much at all. But that could possibly be because I didn't have my question with me. He seems like a kind person. And I am assuming that he is a compitent surgeon. That's the important thing right?
His office staff seems wonderful. Especially Gertrude!! She spent the last couple of months calling and e-mailing back and forth with me from NY to NM. And when I went in for my first appointment she spent at least an hour or more with me going over all my questions. Also she introduced me to the other surgeon who does the surgery together with Dr. Macura. I was impressed with him. He introduced himself to me and told me, "call me Rich." Wow, pretty down to earth. He answered whatever questions that Gertrude was unsure of. He was very relaxed and gave me a feeling that he had nowhere else to be and that I was his priority at the moment.
The thing I liked the least was my brief meeting with Dr. Macura. But I'm not too worried about it.
I will write more after I've had surgery and had more interaction with the Drs. and the office.

Okay, so now I am a little more than 2 months out from my surgery and I can add more about my surgeon and his office.
I am happy with them. I can pretty much say that I am very happy with them. The only glitch I ran into was when I was scheduled for my first fill (see my post above - dated 4/3/04). I will be moving back to NY and am looking forward to a continued relationship with Dr. Macura's office. All the Drs. that I met were very kind. And the office staff is spectacular. So far I have been very satisfied with the attention and response time anytime I have questions.
I think I would feel comfortble referring others who are interested in surgery to the office.
That said, MAKE SURE you do all your research and ask A LOT of questions no matter who you choose as your surgeon. And make sure that his support (nurses, PAs, office staff) are approachable and personable. This is also important.
